Lenovo’s Recognition as a Sustainable Supply Chain Leader

Lenovo has once more placed in the annual Gartner Supply Chain Top 25 rankings, celebrated for its achievements in supply chain operations

Lenovo is an organisation laser-focused on building more efficient supply chain operations.

It appears its mission to do so is succeeding, as evidenced by its recent No. 8 position in the Gartner Supply Chain (GSC) Top 25, up two positions from 2024.

Greater technology, greater efficiency

Lenovo has focussed on streamlining planning as part of its operational logistics.

Through using digital tools, it has been able to improve procurement and supplier collaboration alongside logistics visibility.

All of these improvements have helped the business to meet its ESG commitments and form more sustainable supply chains.

Ben Massie, Vice President of Global Supply Chain for Lenovo’s Infrastructure Solutions Group, comments: “As supply chains become more complex, staying resilient is no longer enough.

“Lenovo is now focused on becoming ‘anti-fragile’—not just withstanding disruption but getting stronger because of it.”

This transformation, supported by Lenovo’s use of AI, allows the company to streamline scheduling processes and enhance decision-making efficiency, setting up a proactive approach to sustainability.

Decisions are more productive and at a much faster speed, meaning Lenovo’s employees can work more efficiently.

As a result, customer satisfaction is increased, as they are experiencing more specific customer care.

Guan Wei, SVP and Head of Global Supply Chain of Lenovo adds: “The use of AI in our systems is ultimately benefiting our customers.

“AI-driven customer sentiment analysis has provided deeper insights into customer needs and recurring issues, resulting in improved customer satisfaction and better warranty-related performance.”

A company for all

Lenovo is a global technology company with US$69bn revenue and is currently ranked 248 in the Fortune Global 500.

The company’s vision, “Smarter Technology for All,” seeks to democratise technology access using AI-powered infrastructures.

It aims to build “a more equitable, trustworthy and smarter future for everyone” through its investments in innovative advancements.

Che Min Tu, SVP and Group Operations Officer of Lenovo says: “At Lenovo, our mission is to create Smarter AI for All.

“To build the kind of technology our customers expect, we need to lead by example within our own business.

“By integrating AI across our global supply chain, we’re not only able to support the growing business demand, but also improve the customer experience and cut order-to-ship times in what is arguably one of the most complex and dynamic global business environments.”

Lenovo’s global impact

Operating across more than 30 manufacturing sites in 11 markets, including the Asia Pacific, North America, Europe and the Middle East, Lenovo employs around 77,000 people.

Part of Lenovo’s goal is to provide more advanced technology which builds a more sustainable future.

In 2023, the company committed to reaching net zero GHG emissions by 2050, relying on collaboration with suppliers and accountability to get there.

It says is committed to ESG management across the end-to-end supply chain process, demanding high-quality parts from all its suppliers.

Lenovo’s inclusion in the GSC Top 25 – which ranks Fortune Global 500 and Forbes Global 2000 companies based on business performance and opinion – places it among global leaders representing a range of industries.
