Award-winning five-star hotel, The Landmark London, has achieved the EarthCheck Silver Benchmark 2025, recognising its commitment to sustainable operations, environmental performance and practices.
The globally recognised certification was awarded to The Landmark London for its dedication to improving its sustainable practices across all areas of the hotel.
Paving the way to a greener future, the hotel has been adopting and promoting numerous techniques to run a more sustainable hospitality business, from a reduction of 615,000 kWh in annual energy use to a complete switch to 100% renewable electricity. Smart in-room thermostats have helped cut electricity consumption by 31% per room without impacting guest comfort and zero waste is sent to landfill but instead recycled, repurposed or used to generate green energy.
Sustainability touches every part of the guest journey, with refillable toiletries, biodegradable coffee capsules and recycled water bottles in rooms help eliminate single-use plastics. Across departments, operations have shifted to paperless systems and low-impact alternatives; from eco-friendly laundry processes and upcycled materials to responsibly sourced food and beverage offerings.
These impactful initiatives are guided by an appointed EarthCheck Coordinator and a dedicated Sustainability and Environmental Taskforce, who are instrumental in fostering a culture of sustainability among colleagues and promoting this commitment to all stakeholders. The hotel undergoes annual benchmarking assessments to ensure continued progress.
Fergus Stewart, General Manager at The Landmark London and CEO of The Landcaster Landmark Hotel Company comments: “We are incredibly proud to receive the EarthCheck Silver Benchmark, which is a true reflection of our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team as we look ahead to continue to improve our environmental and sustainable credentials.”
