Why Sustainability LIVE Chose London for its Flagship Event

Sustainability LIVE is coming back to London in September 2025 for its flagship event, hosting thousands of attendees and sustainability leaders

There are nearly a million private sector businesses headquartered in London, giving it the highest concentration of businesses in the UK.

HSBC, Unilever, Vodafone and RELX are just a few of these with operations around the world.

This makes London not just a global business hub, but also a city where impact can drive influence around the world.

Sustainability LIVE London 2025, taking place at the Business Design Centre on 9 and 10 September, will convene global business sustainability leaders to make use of the city’s influence.

Sustainability goals in London

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, aims to bring the city to net zero by 2030.

“Climate catastrophe is no longer that dark cloud looming in the distance. It’s here, above our heads,” the Mayor said.

“From wildfires and floods, to hurricanes and heatwaves, its presence is already being felt, in cities and towns all over the world.

“How we respond is the great challenge of our times, but it’s also the great opportunity.

“Unlocking the promise of a green revolution is possible, but it will demand our full focus.”

How London will finance the transition

According to the Mayor of London, the city will need £75bn (US$101.5bn) in infrastructure investments to achieve its net zero goal.

The Green Finance Fund and London Climate Finance Facility (LCFF) aim to support these investments.

The LCFF was launched in 2023 with aims to unlock private finance, accelerate the development and delivery of projects and build on London’s existing financing capabilities.

The Fund offers flexible loans with low interest rates for carbon saving projects that support the city’s transition.

It is a £500m (US$678m) fund aimed primarily at public sector bodies and social housing providers with a minimum loan size of £1m (US$1.3m).
