Vivo Energy explores media partnerships to amplify sustainability initiatives, energy transition

Vivo Energy Ghana and Media General, Ghana’s leading media conglomerate are exploring strategic media partnerships to strengthen the OMC as a leading voice in energy sustainability and showcase its transition beyond traditional fuels.

The energy company’s Managing Director, Christian Li, held discussions with Media General executives in Accra on Thursday, 4th September 2025.

Beyond traditional energy

The partnership aims to position Vivo Energy as a catalyst for economic value creation while highlighting its journey towards a greener future.

The collaboration will focus on amplifying Vivo Energy’s environmental initiatives, including its ShePower programme and efforts to reduce plastic use.

In March 2025, the company maiden ShePower Summit to empower females into leadership.

Vivo Energy’s ShePower initiative, which won the overall award at the 2024 Vivo Group Awards in Cape Town, will be a key focus of the media partnership.

Media General will leverage its platforms including TV3, Onua TV, Onua FM, 3FM, and 3News.com to communicate Vivo Energy’s sustainability journey.

The partnership will create platforms that project the company’s transformation from traditional fuel distributor to innovative energy solutions provider.

Green energy focus

The collaboration aligns with Vivo Energy’s vision to become Africa’s leading and most respected energy business while developing innovative solutions to enhance sustainability.

Similar engagements with other media platforms are expected as the company seeks to maximize its reach across Ghana and the African continent. The Shell brand has been present in Ghana since 1928, making it one of the country’s longest-serving energy companies.
