Apple is expanding its environmental efforts across the Asia-Pacific region with new renewable energy and forest restoration projects in Australia and New Zealand. These programs mark another step toward the company’s goal of becoming carbon neutral across its entire supply chain by 2030.

Apple said it will expand its Restore Fund initiative to New Zealand. Together with its partner Climate Asset Management, the company has invested in projects that will protect and restore 8,600 hectares of forestland across multiple sites in the Central North Island and South Island. These projects follow Forest Stewardship Council standards and aim to improve biodiversity, increase carbon capture, and support sustainable management of redwood forests alongside 3,000 hectares of native forest.
Launched in 2021, the Restore Fund helps finance high-quality, nature-based carbon removal efforts around the world. The company said these investments balance environmental restoration with long-term economic value.
Expansion in Australia

In Australia, Apple shared details of a Restore Fund project in Queensland. The initiative is transforming 1,700 hectares of degraded sugarcane farmland into a macadamia orchard with over 800,000 trees. Located south of Bundaberg, the project will reintroduce native species, improve soil health, and increase water efficiency. It also includes a 100-hectare restoration zone in partnership with Indigenous conservation group W.Y.L.D., which focuses on reconnecting youth with their natural environment. The area will serve as a biodiversity corridor linking two national parks.
Beyond the Restore Fund, Apple also announced the construction of a new solar project in Lancaster, Victoria. The site will add to Apple’s growing renewable energy portfolio in the region. Combined with existing efforts, these projects are expected to generate over 1 million megawatt-hours of clean energy annually before 2030.
Sustaining the Apple 2030 Vision
Apple said these efforts align with its Apple 2030 climate strategy, which aims to make every product carbon neutral within five years. The company recently expanded similar programs in Europe and China, signaling that while its focus may shift geographically, the goal remains global.
Through partnerships, investment, and local engagement, Apple continues to build a framework that blends sustainability with accountability, turning environmental goals into measurable results.
