Grupo Bimbo held its 2025 Annual Supplier and Sustainability Meeting, bringing together global business partners to reinforce the company’s focus on quality, innovation, and process efficiency across its value chain. The company emphasized that collaboration with suppliers remains central to advancing its sustainability priorities and meeting consumer expectations.
During the event, Bimbo recognized partners that demonstrated exceptional performance and contributed to the company’s strategic objectives over the past year. Honorees included Puratos (Bimbo Bakeries USA), Allied Halo (Bimbo Canada), Oleofinos (Bimbo México), Lyncott (El Globo), Lucta (Barcel), AAK (Bimbo Latin Centro), EMUSA (Bimbo Latin Sur), Duas Rodas (Bimbo Brasil), ADM (Bimbo EMEA) and Grands Moulins de Paris (Bimbo QSR). NTT Data received the global Supplier of the Year award in technology.
“When we combine our experience, our passion and our purpose, we not only elevate what we do but redefine what is possible,” said David Hernández, Bimbo’s global procurement director. “I want to thank all our partners, whose knowledge and vision help us continue building a sustainable and highly productive company.”
For the first time, Bimbo presented the “Guardians of the Future” award, created to highlight suppliers that have contributed measurable results to the company’s sustainability strategy. The inaugural recipients were Puratos, AAK, and Oleofinos.
“Sustainability advances only happen when we work together,” said Alejandra Vázquez, global sustainability director. “We recognize the commitment of our suppliers to adopt better practices and strengthen a value chain that is more responsible and prepared for the future.”
In July, Bimbo announced key progress in three core pillars of its “Nourishing a Better World” sustainability strategy: net zero carbon emissions, zero waste, and regenerative agriculture. The company detailed these advancements in its 2024 Annual Report, Actions that Transform.
As part of its goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, Grupo Bimbo now operates a fleet of more than 7,757 renewable-energy vehicles, including over 4,200 fully electric units—giving it the largest electric delivery fleet in both Mexico and Latin America. Globally, the company sources 97% of its electricity from renewable sources, reaching 100% in 28 of its 35 operational markets.
In line with its zero-waste objective, 94% of the company’s packaging is now recyclable. Grupo Bimbo is committed to ensuring all packaging is recyclable, biodegradable, or compostable by 2050. The company also operates 80 fully-sustainable bakeries and food processing plants that send zero waste to landfill.
Regarding sustainable agriculture, Grupo Bimbo applied regenerative farming practices across nearly 300,000 hectares of farmland. By 2050, the company aims to source all key ingredients in its supply chain through regenerative agriculture.
The company also reported progress in other sustainability priorities. Nearly all of its daily-consumption products are now free from artificial colors and flavors, reaching a 99% compliance rate. In 2024, Grupo Bimbo completed 267 community projects across 28 countries, benefiting over 530,000 people.
